The changes that impacted the media industry globally and regionally--including the economic downturn, online development, new mobile access devices and new media zones--drive the industry to a new edge. This panel will examine (1) the state of the media industry in the GCC; (2) the emergence of the Internet as a viable platform for news consumption and how it affects traditional media channels in the region; (3) challenges faced by the GCC television industry, including low advertising revenues and the low penetration of pay TV; and (4) exploring the fastest growing media sectors as new platforms for media consumption in the region.
